Fridge ice maker not making ice? Signs the unit has failed
The ice maker runs the whole cycle. It calls for water to fill the mould, waits for the water to freeze, then turns the ejector to drop the cubes into the bin and starts again. It also senses when the bin is full and pauses production. A faulty unit can stop making ice altogether, freeze cubes that never release, jam halfway through the eject cycle or keep harvesting when the bin is already full. Before replacing it, check that water actually reaches the tray and the freezer is cold enough, because a blocked water line or a failed inlet valve can produce the same symptoms.

Changing over the ice maker
Turn the fridge off at the wall and shut off its water supply before starting. Empty the ice bin, then undo the mounting screws and unplug the ice maker's wiring connector. Fit the new unit in the same position, reconnect the plug and restore power and water. Allow up to a day for the freezer to settle, and tip out the first batch of ice.
