Product details
Microwave light gone dark? T170 is a generic 240V 25W lamp with a right angle base, the style used to light the cooking cavity in many microwave ovens. It isn't tied to one brand, so the best check is to compare it with the globe you take out. Match the voltage, the wattage and the bent base shape, and if you're unsure, send your microwave's model number through the parts enquiry form.
Why the light inside your microwave stops working
The lamp sits behind a vent or cover on the cavity wall and comes on when the door opens or a cooking cycle starts. Like any filament globe, it eventually burns through, and the light simply stays off while the microwave keeps heating normally. If a new globe doesn't bring the light back, the fault is more likely to be the door switch, the lamp socket or the wiring feeding it. A globe that blackens quickly or blows often can point to heat build up from blocked vents, so keep the vents around the cabinet clear.

Changing a microwave globe safely
Unplug the microwave at the wall before you start. On many models the globe is only reachable once the outer cabinet is off, and that exposes the high voltage capacitor, which can hold a dangerous charge long after the power is removed. If your lamp sits behind the cabinet, have a qualified appliance technician do the swap. Where the globe sits behind a cover inside the cavity, make sure the new one seats firmly before closing up.
Questions about this part
Will this globe fit my microwave?
It suits microwaves that take a 240V 25W globe with a right angle base. Take out the old lamp and compare its shape, voltage and wattage with this one. If they match, it should do the job. Not sure? Send us your model number through the enquiry form.
