T014-1 is a generic 6.3mm female spade terminal made for high temperature connections. The 6.3mm size is the common push-on blade width used on elements, thermostats, switches and many other appliance components. A high temperature terminal is the right choice anywhere the joint sits close to a heat source, as standard terminals can soften, oxidise and work loose.
Why burnt or loose terminals cause appliance faults
Every push-on joint in an appliance has to carry current without heating up. When a terminal loosens or oxidises, resistance at the joint rises and it starts to get hot, which in turn makes the connection worse. In ovens, cooktops, dryers and hot water units the surrounding heat speeds this up. The result is often a blackened or melted connector, a burnt smell, an element that works on and off, or a component that stops working altogether. Swapping a damaged terminal for a high temperature one, and cleaning or replacing the blade it fits onto, restores a reliable connection.

Fitting a high temperature terminal
Isolate the appliance completely before touching any wiring. Cut the damaged wire back to clean, bright copper, strip only enough insulation for the terminal barrel and crimp it firmly with a proper crimping tool. Give the wire a firm tug to check the crimp holds, then push the terminal fully onto its blade. Fixed wiring and hard-wired appliances must be handled by a licensed electrician.

Can I reuse a terminal that looks discoloured?
It is best not to. Discolouration shows the joint has been overheating, and the spring grip has usually weakened. Replace the terminal and check the blade it connects to for burning or pitting as well.
