SYL009 is a genuine halogen lamp assembly from the Glen Dimplex range of rangehood spares. It's the lamp fitting assembly, not a globe on its own. Before you order, take a look at the lights in your hood. This part only suits rangehoods fitted with halogen lighting, so a canopy with LED lights needs a different assembly. Matching the SYL009 number, or the shape and mounting of the old fitting, is the surest way to get the right one.
Rangehood light not working? When to replace the lamp assembly
The lamp assembly holds the halogen globe in the underside of the canopy and carries power to it, so you can see the cooktop while you cook. Halogen fittings run hot, and over the years that heat can make the lamp holder brittle, burn the contacts or discolour the housing. Common signs are a light that flickers, works only when the fitting is pushed, or stays dark even with a fresh globe. A melted or cracked holder is another clear sign. If a new globe doesn't fix it and the fan still runs, the fitting itself is the usual suspect.

Changing the halogen lamp assembly
Switch the rangehood off at the wall and let the old globe cool, as halogens get very hot. Remove the grease filters for access, then unclip or unscrew the fitting from the canopy. Take a photo of how the wires connect before you disconnect them. Fit the new assembly, refit the filters and test the light. A hard-wired rangehood should be handled by a licensed electrician.

How do I know if my rangehood has halogen or LED lights?
Halogen globes are small glass capsules or reflector globes that get hot to the touch and give a warm yellow light. LED lights run much cooler and are often a flat round disc or panel. If you can't tell, send a photo and your model number through the parts enquiry form.
