Heat escaping from a Technika oven door?
An oven door seal keeps the heat inside the cavity so the thermostat can hold the set temperature. Over time the seal hardens, frays or loses its clips, especially near the top where heat and steam escape. Signs include a hot control panel or knobs, smoke or steam drifting out around the door, longer cooking times, uneven browning and the element cycling on more often. Replacing a worn seal also stops steam marking the benchtop or cupboards nearby.

Fitting the oven door seal
Let the oven cool fully and switch it off at the wall. Look closely at how the old seal is held, as many push in with wire clips or hooks. Start fitting from the centre top, press each clip home, and work around both sides without stretching the seal. Bring the ends together neatly at the join, then close the door to check the seal is even.
