SHCF01 is a single genuine charcoal filter for Technika and Viali rangehoods running in recirculation mode. Models on file include the SL10160ISS-3 and SL10190ISS-3, the SL10190ISS-4 and SREC0160I-2, the SREC0160I-3 and SREC0160SS-2, and the SREC0190SS-2. It also covers the VGGSO60SS and TGSLH850SS, plus the GEH6016. It's sold as one filter, so check how many your hood holds.

Cooking smells hanging around? Your charcoal filter may be spent

A hood that isn't ducted outside cleans the air and blows it back into the room. The grease filter catches the oily residue, and the charcoal filter behind it absorbs the odours. Charcoal works by trapping smell molecules in its pores, and once those pores are full the filter stops doing much. Lingering smells after cooking, a stale or smoky odour when the hood runs, and air that seems to be shuffled around rather than cleaned all suggest the charcoal is used up. Your hood manual gives the change interval.

Fitting the charcoal filter

Turn the hood off at the wall. Take down the grease filter to expose the charcoal filter, note how it's held and remove it. Fit the new SHCF01 the same way, making sure it seats evenly so air can't sneak around the edges. Refit the grease filter and run the hood to check it sounds normal.

Do I need one or two of these?

SHCF01 is sold as a single filter. Some hoods take one and others take two, often one each side of the motor. Remove the grease filter and count the filter positions before ordering.
