Product details
S50862 is a generic fan forced oven motor supplied with its fan blade, in a long shaft version. It's an aftermarket replacement for the motor that drives the convection fan at the back of the oven. The long shaft suits ovens where the motor mounts further back from the cavity, so measure the shaft on your old motor and check the mounting holes before ordering.
Noisy or stopped oven fan
The fan motor pushes heated air around the oven for even cooking. As the bearings wear, the fan starts to growl, squeal or scrape, especially from cold, and eventually it may stop altogether. A seized fan means fan forced mode heats unevenly or the oven overheats around the element, and some ovens will trip a thermal cutout. With the oven isolated, spin the blade by hand. Any roughness, wobble or end play points to a worn motor.

Fitting the fan motor
Isolate the oven at the switchboard before starting, and use a licensed electrician for a hard-wired oven. Fan motors are usually removed from behind the oven, so it often has to come out of the cabinet. Take off the fan cover and blade inside, photograph the wiring, then swap the motor across, keeping any heat shield and gasket. Spin the blade to check clearance.
Questions about this part
Do I need to buy the blade separately?
No, S50862 is listed as a motor and blade together. Compare the blade's diameter with your old one, as a different blade can change the airflow and noise level inside the oven.
