The Deflecto RMC5 is an aluminium mushroom cowl that caps a 125mm duct where it exits through the roof. It's the finishing piece for rangehood and exhaust fan runs that vent straight up, letting air out while the domed top sheds rain. Aluminium doesn't rust, so it handles the weather well. Match it to 125mm ducting or a 125mm roof spigot.
Why a roof cowl matters on an exhaust duct
Venting a rangehood into the roof space just moves grease and moisture into the ceiling, where it can feed mould and stain the plaster. Running the duct out through the roof and capping it with a cowl sends that air outside for good. The mushroom shape leaves a gap under the cap for air to escape while blocking direct rain. A damaged or missing cowl can let water run down the duct, cause drips at the rangehood, or let wind push back down and weaken extraction.
