Product details
RF002A is a generic bullet piercing valve, a clamp-on fitting that refrigeration techs use to get into a sealed system with no service port. It fits over the copper line and, once tightened, pierces the tube to give an access point for connecting gauges, recovering refrigerant or recharging. It's a universal part rather than one made for a particular fridge. The tube size isn't listed here, so measure your pipe and ask through the parts enquiry form if you need it confirmed.
When a fridge or freezer needs a piercing valve
Most domestic fridges and freezers leave the factory as sealed systems, with no service valve to connect gauges to. When a technician needs to diagnose a gas leak, check pressures, recover refrigerant or regas the system, a piercing valve provides that access. The bullet style clamps around the tube, and a piercing pin is screwed in to puncture it, leaving the valve as the only opening. Many techs remove the valve and braze the line closed once the job is done, as a clamp-on fitting can become a slow leak point over time.

Fitting a bullet piercing valve
Refrigerant work in Australia must be carried out by someone who holds a refrigerant handling licence. Unplug the appliance at the wall first. Clean the tube where the valve will sit, position the clamp squarely on a straight run of pipe, and tighten it evenly before driving the piercing pin. Leak test the fitting once your gauges are connected.
Questions about this part
Can I regas my own fridge with this?
No. In Australia, anyone handling refrigerant needs a refrigerant handling licence, so this valve is meant for licensed technicians. If your fridge has lost its gas, a refrigeration tech will need to find and repair the leak before recharging it.
