Part RC1 is a generic VC1 type thermostat for single door refrigerators with a freezer box, the style where a small frozen compartment sits inside the fresh food section. It is a universal replacement rather than a part for one brand. On the cold setting it cuts out at -23°C and cuts back in at -14.5°C, and the warm setting cuts in at +2°C.
Fridge not cooling, freezing food or running nonstop?
The thermostat senses temperature through a thin capillary tube clamped to the evaporator, and switches the compressor on and off to hold the setting on the dial. When it fails with its contacts stuck open, the compressor won't start and the fridge warms up. Stuck closed, the compressor runs without stopping, food in the fresh section freezes and ice builds up fast on the freezer box. A thermostat that has lost its gas charge behaves erratically or not at all. Before blaming it, check the compressor, start relay and door seal, which can produce similar symptoms.

Fitting a universal thermostat
Switch off at the wall and unplug the fridge. Take a clear photo of the wiring on the old thermostat and note exactly where its capillary tube is clamped to the evaporator, as the new tube must sit in the same spot. Uncoil the new tube gently without kinking it, transfer the wires, fit the knob and leave the fridge running a few hours to check it cycles. A refrigeration technician can fit it if you're unsure.
