The filter is the first line of defence in a rangehood. It catches grease and cooking residue drawn up from the cooktop, protecting the fan, motor and ductwork. Changing the filter
Turn the rangehood off and allow it to cool before reaching underneath. Release the filter's catch or handle, tilt it down and lift it clear, keeping it level so grease doesn't drip. Fit the new filter with any arrows or handles facing the same way as the old one and make sure the catch locks. Run the hood for a minute to confirm it sits quietly.
