ILVE rangehood light not working?

The lamp assembly is the light fitting set into the underside of the hood. It holds the halogen globe and its connections so the cooking area stays well lit. Because it sits right above the cooktop, it takes a lot of heat, steam and grease. Over the years the lamp holder can go brittle, the contacts corrode and the fitting works loose in its cut-out. If a new globe does not fix a dead light, the light flickers, or one light works and the other does not, the fitting is a likely suspect. A failed 12V transformer gives similar symptoms, so test that if every light is out.

Changing the lamp assembly

Switch the rangehood off, isolate the power at the wall or switchboard and let the old light cool fully. Remove the grease filters if they are in the way, then ease the light fitting out of the hood and disconnect its wiring, noting which way it connects. Fit the new assembly, push it home into the cut-out and test the lights. If your hood is hard-wired, have a licensed electrician do the job.
