Product details
MJX63952101 is a genuine LG check valve, a one way valve that lets water or air pass in one direction and blocks it from flowing back. Valves like this are fitted in water and drain lines where backflow would cause leaks, odours or poor performance. We don't have the appliance or a model list on file for this valve, so match the number on your old part, or send us your LG model and serial number to confirm it.
Signs of a failed check valve
Inside the valve a flap, ball or diaphragm opens with forward flow and closes when the flow stops. Scale, debris or a worn seal can stop it closing fully, or jam it shut. A valve stuck open lets water run back, which can show up as dirty water returning, drips after a cycle or a pump that has to restart. A valve stuck shut blocks the flow, so water won't fill or drain as it should. Gurgling noises can also point to a faulty check valve.

Replacing the valve
Unplug the appliance and close the water tap. Have a towel and tray ready, as the hoses either side may hold water. Note the flow direction of the old valve before removing it, because a check valve fitted backwards will block the flow completely. Fit the new valve the same way, secure the hose clamps and run the appliance to check for leaks.
Questions about this part
Does it matter which way round the valve goes?
Yes. A check valve only allows flow one way, so fitting it backwards stops the water altogether. Match the direction of the old valve, which is usually shown by an arrow moulded on the body.
