LG washer door won't latch or the cycle won't start
The hook sits on the inside edge of the door and slides into the door lock on the cabinet as you shut it. The lock then confirms the door is closed so the machine can fill and spin. A worn, cracked or bent hook won't engage properly, so the door won't stay shut, or the machine shows a door error and refuses to start. A hook that has snapped off completely leaves nothing for the lock to grab at all.

Replacing the door hook
Turn the washer off at the wall. Open the door and undo the screws that hold the inner and outer halves of the door together, then lift out the old hook and note which way it faces. Fit the new hook the same way round, reassemble the door and close it to check it catches with a firm click.

My LG door won't close, is it always the hook?
Not always. If the hook looks straight and undamaged, the door lock on the cabinet may be the faulty part instead. Check the hook for cracks or wear at the tip first, as it's the cheaper part to replace.
