The holder is the mount that keeps a spray arm in position so it can spin freely. When it cracks or its clips break, the arm can wobble, drop off or stop turning, which quickly shows up as dirty dishes.

LG dishwasher spray arm loose or not spinning?

Spray arms rely on a steady mount to turn smoothly as water is forced through their jets. If the holder is cracked, worn or has lost its clip, the arm can sit crooked, rub against a basket, or come off during the cycle. Water then escapes around the mount instead of going through the nozzles, so pressure drops and dishes come out with food still stuck on. Rattling from inside the tub during the wash can also point to a loose arm. Check the holder whenever you find a spray arm lying in the bottom of the tub.

Part details

Genuine LG part MEG64419101

Spray arm holder for LG dishwashers

Listed for the XD3A25PS and XD4B24WH plus the XD5B14PS and XD5B14WH

Swapping the holder

Switch the dishwasher off at the wall and remove the baskets to give yourself room.
