Product details

MDG37708601 is a genuine LG propeller fan, the bladed axial fan that pushes air across a coil to carry heat away. Propeller fans of this kind are typical of air conditioner outdoor units. There's no model list on file for MDG37708601, so please confirm the number on your old fan hub or in the parts list for your LG unit's model before ordering, as fan sizes and bore shapes vary.

Rattling LG fan or weak airflow

A propeller fan is balanced to spin smoothly at speed. Once a blade chips, cracks from sun and age, or picks up debris, it falls out of balance. That shows up as vibration, a rhythmic thumping or rattling noise, a fan that wobbles on its shaft, or reduced airflow. In an air conditioner the result is weaker cooling or heating and a unit that works harder for longer. A loose fan can also damage the motor shaft, so it's worth replacing once it's damaged.

Fitting a propeller fan

Isolate the power at the isolator switch or switchboard and wait for the fan to stop completely. Remove the grille, then undo the nut holding the fan to the motor shaft, noting any washers and which way the fan faces. Fit the new fan the same way, tighten the nut securely and spin it by hand to check clearance. Air conditioner work should be done by a qualified technician or licensed electrician.
