Missing or cracked pulsator cap on an LG top loader?
The pulsator cap covers the bolt that holds the pulsator onto the drive shaft. It stops clothes snagging on the bolt head and keeps small items, lint and detergent sludge from collecting in the recess. Caps can crack with age, pop off if the bolt works loose, or go missing during a repair. Without one you may find garments torn or caught in the centre of the drum, coins or hair clips lodged around the bolt, or a build-up of grime that adds to musty smells.

Fitting the pulsator cap
Unplug the washer before reaching into the drum. Remove any broken pieces of the old cap, then check the centre bolt is tight, as a loose bolt is a common reason the old cap came off. Line the new cap up with the recess and press it down firmly until it sits fully in place. Run a short cycle and check it stays put.
