Oven fan running but not heating up
In fan forced mode the fan draws air from the cavity across this ring element and blows it back out heated, spreading warmth evenly across every shelf. When the element fails the fan and oven light usually keep working, so the first clue is an oven that stays cold or barely warm on fan bake while the top and bottom elements still heat. A failed element may also trip the safety switch the moment fan bake is selected, often because the sheath has split and is shorting to earth. Visible bubbling or a break in the element confirms it.
