Oven doors use more than one pane of glass, and the inner one sits closest to the heat. Together with the outer panes it keeps the outside of the door cooler and holds heat in the oven. Replacing the inner pane
Make sure the oven is off and cold before you touch the door. On many ovens the door lifts off once the hinges are locked open, and the inner glass slides out after releasing a top trim or clips. Lay the door on a towel, wear gloves and note which way the pane faces, as some have a coating or printing on one side. Slide the new glass in the same way and check it sits square.
