Gas burner will not stay alight? A worn thermocouple is the usual cause
A thermocouple sits beside the burner flame and produces a tiny voltage when it is heated. That voltage holds the safety valve in the gas tap open. If the flame goes out, the thermocouple cools and the valve shuts off the gas. When a thermocouple wears, bends away from the flame or its connection corrodes, the voltage drops and the valve will not stay open. The classic sign is a burner that lights while you hold the knob in but goes out as soon as you let go. Clean the tip and check it sits in the flame before replacing it.

Fitting must be done by a licensed gas fitter
