The door lock is the catch that holds the dryer door closed against its seal. The dryer is designed to run only with the door properly shut, so if the catch can't hold, the drum won't start or stops part way through a load. Over time the catch can wear, crack or lose its spring tension, especially when the door is slammed or leaned on while open. Fitting the door lock
Unplug the dryer at the wall before removing any panels. Check the door strike as well, because a worn or bent strike can stop even a new lock from holding. Photograph any wiring on the old lock, release it from the front panel and fit the new one in the same position. Close the door firmly to test that it catches, then run a short cycle.
