Dryer not drying or squealing? Check the fan belt
This belt carries drive from the motor to the fan that moves air through the drum. When it stretches, cracks or snaps, the drum may still turn while airflow drops away, so loads take much longer or come out damp. A slipping belt can squeal at start-up, and a broken one often leaves rubber pieces inside the cabinet. Chloroprene copes with heat better than ordinary rubber, which matters in a hot dryer cabinet. If belts keep failing, check that the fan and motor pulley both turn freely.

Fitting the new fan belt
Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. Photograph how the old belt runs over the motor pulley and the fan pulley before taking it off. Fit the new belt so it sits in the pulley grooves, turn the pulleys by hand to check it tracks straight, then refit the panels. Run the dryer briefly to confirm strong airflow at the vent or filter.
