If the dryer motor runs but the drum stays still, a broken belt is the first thing to check. Fisher & Paykel dryer drum not turning
The belt wraps around the outside of the drum and runs back to the motor pulley, usually with a spring-loaded idler keeping it tight. Over time the ribs crack, the belt stretches and starts slipping, or it snaps outright. A slipping belt can squeal, smell of hot rubber, or let the drum stall when it's loaded with heavy towels. A snapped belt leaves the motor humming while the drum doesn't move, and some dryers will show an error or stop heating as a result. If you can spin the empty drum by hand with almost no resistance, the belt has probably broken.

Fitting the dryer belt
Unplug the dryer before removing any panels. Note how the old belt runs around the idler and motor pulley, and take a photo if you can. Loop the new belt around the drum with the same side facing the drum as the old one, then thread it under the idler and onto the motor pulley exactly as before. Turn the drum by hand a few times to check it tracks straight before closing up.
