Haier or Fisher & Paykel dryer overheating or noisy?
A dryer's cooling fan moves room air through the machine to carry heat away. In condenser models it cools the condenser so moisture can be collected, and in any design it helps keep the motor and electronics within safe temperatures. If the fan breaks, loses blades or comes loose on its shaft, the dryer can run hot, cut out on its thermal protection, take much longer to dry, leave clothes damp, or make a rattling, scraping noise. Lint build-up around the fan causes similar trouble, so clean it out while you're in there.

Replacing the cooling fan
Unplug the dryer and let it cool before opening the cabinet. Depending on the model, you'll reach the fan from the back or by removing the front or top panels. Note how the fan locates on its shaft and any retaining clip or nut. Clean out lint while you have access, fit the new fan, and turn it by hand to check it clears its housing.
