Product details

H012G6050040 is a genuine Haier microswitch from the H012G dishwasher range used by Fisher & Paykel and Haier. A closely related number in the same family is described as a float switch, and this small switch is the one a float presses as water rises. It's easy to confuse with other microswitches, so match the number on your old switch. No model list is on file yet.

Why a dishwasher shows a leak alarm or won't fill

Many dishwashers use a float that lifts as water collects, pressing a microswitch that tells the control board what's happening. Depending on where the float sits, that signal either stops the fill at the right level or warns of a leak in the base tray and starts the drain pump. A switch that sticks closed can cause a constant leak or overflow alarm, a pump that keeps running, or a machine that refuses to fill. One that fails open can let water keep coming in. Always check the base tray for real water before blaming the switch.

Replacing the float switch

Switch off at the wall and turn off the tap, then slide the dishwasher out of its cavity. Mop up any water in the base tray first and find where it came from. Note how the switch sits against the float and photograph the wiring. Fit the new switch, lift and drop the float by hand to feel it click, and run a cycle while watching for leaks.

Questions about this part

Why does my dishwasher keep draining with the pump running?

That's often the leak protection reacting to water in the base, or to a stuck float or switch. Dry the base tray, find any leak, and only then replace the switch if the alarm returns with the base dry.
