A frequency conversion board changes the frequency of the power it supplies, which lets a motor run at variable speed. In a dishwasher this normally drives the wash motor. Signs of a failed dishwasher inverter board
Dishwashers with a variable speed wash motor rely on this board to start the motor and set its speed for each stage of the program. If the board fails, the machine may fill and then sit silent, hum without spraying, stop partway with an error code or trip the power. Burn marks, a scorched smell or bulging components on the board are strong clues. Because a seized pump or a wiring fault can produce the same symptoms, it pays to check the motor and the connections before replacing the board.

Changing the board safely
