Signs the lower spray arm needs replacing

The lower spray arm is driven by water pressure from the wash pump, and its angled jets make it rotate as it sprays. If the arm cracks, its bearing wears or the jets are damaged, it won't spin properly or water escapes through the split. The result is food left on plates and pots in the bottom basket, gritty residue and sometimes a rattle during the wash. Before buying, pull the arm off and flush the jets, as blocked holes cause similar problems.

Swapping the lower spray arm
