Top rack dishes coming out dirty?
Water pumped from the sump splits between the lower spray arm and this outlet, which carries the rest up to feed the upper arm. If the hose splits, a joint loosens or a seal perishes, water escapes before it reaches the top basket. Dishes and glasses in the upper rack come out dirty or spotted while the bottom rack is clean, the upper spray arm barely turns, or water leaks under the dishwasher and, on some models, triggers a leak error.

Replacing the outlet assembly
Turn off the power and the water tap, then pull the dishwasher out of its cavity. You'll often need to remove a side or rear panel to reach the full length of the assembly. Photograph how it's routed and clipped, transfer any seals, and press each joint fully home. Run a rinse cycle and check underneath for leaks before pushing it back.
Questions about this part
Why are only my top rack dishes dirty?
When the upper spray arm doesn't get enough water, the top basket misses out. Check the arm's holes for blockages and that it spins freely. If those are fine, a leaking or split outlet assembly is a likely cause.
