The cutlery basket keeps knives, forks and spoons upright and apart so water can reach every surface. Baskets crack where the handle joins, lose dividers, or split along the base after years of heavy loads and hot cycles. Cutlery then falls through onto the spray arm, stopping it from turning, or drops into the filter and pump, which can cause noise and blockages. No tools are needed. Lift the old basket out of the lower rack and set the new one in the same position. Load knives handle up for safety, mix spoons and forks so they don't nest together, and keep the handle clear of the spray arm. Rinse the basket now and then to clear trapped food.
