Dishwasher won't start or stops mid cycle?
Sitting behind the door catch, this microswitch is pressed closed every time the door latches. The control board won't run a program while it reads the door as open, which keeps water from spraying into the kitchen. When the switch fails, the dishwasher may do nothing when you press start, stop part way through a cycle, show a door open light, beep repeatedly, or only start if you lean on the door. A broken latch can cause the same symptoms, so inspect it too.

Changing the door switch
Turn the dishwasher off at the wall. Open the door and remove the screws holding the inner door panel or latch assembly, depending on the model. Note the wire positions on the old switch, move them to the new one and clip it into the latch housing. Close the door and run a short cycle to confirm it starts and keeps going.
