At the end of each wash and rinse, the drain pump pushes the dirty water out through the drain hose to the sink waste. Changing the drain pump

Turn off the power at the wall and the water at the tap. Bail or sponge out any water in the base, and lay towels down because more will come out when the pump is removed. Access is usually from underneath once the dishwasher is out of the cavity. Photograph the wiring, swap the pump over and check its seal is seated before refitting. Run a short program to test it drains.
