Where pulleys are used in a dishwasher
In many dishwashers a pulley guides the cord or cable that links the door hinge to its balance spring, so the door lowers gently and stays where you leave it. Changing a pulley
Turn the dishwasher off at the wall and turn off the tap. You'll usually need to slide the machine out of its cavity and remove a side or kick panel to reach the pulley. Photograph how the cord or cable runs before taking anything apart. Fit the new pulley, re-route the cord exactly as before and open and close the door several times to test it.
