Lower basket tines won't stay up or keep collapsing
Fold down tines let you flatten part of the lower basket to fit pots and bowls, and the clip is what locks them up or lets them drop. Clips get brittle with heat and detergent over the years, and they often snap when the tines are forced down. With a broken clip, the tines flop over during loading, dishes lean into each other, and a loose tine section can rattle or catch the lower spray arm as it turns. Swapping the clip restores the fold function without replacing the whole basket.

Fitting the clip
Slide the lower basket out and set it on a bench. Left and right clips mirror each other, so compare the broken one with the intact clip on the other side to confirm the hand. Unclip the broken piece from the basket wire, press the new clip on in the same spot and test the tines fold up and down before refitting.
