A good seal keeps cold air in and warm, moist air out, so when a gasket tears, hardens or pulls away from the door, the fridge works harder and frost or condensation starts to appear. Fridge and freezer doors often take different gaskets, so check which door you need before ordering.
Fridge sweating or frosting up? Check the door seal
The magnetic gasket grips the cabinet all the way around when the door closes. Once part of it flattens, splits or loses its grip, warm air gets in. Signs include condensation or water droplets around the door frame, frost or ice building up near the gap, food warming or freezing unevenly, the compressor running much longer than usual, and higher power bills. A simple test is to close the door on a sheet of paper. If it slides out easily anywhere around the door, the seal isn't gripping there.

Fitting a fridge door gasket
Switch the fridge off at the wall. Many gaskets push into a channel on the inner door liner, while others are held by screws under the lip, so check yours first. Fit the new gasket starting at the top corners. If it's creased from packaging, warm it gently with a hair dryer on low so it relaxes into shape. Give it a day to settle before judging the seal.
