Product details

H0060402077 is the genuine Haier defrost sensor, a temperature sensor on a cable that tells the fridge when its cooling coil needs defrosting. It is on file for 18 Haier models, including the HRF420BHC, the HRF450BS2 and HRF450BG2, the HRF502TS1, the HRF520BHS and HRF520BS, the HRF520FHS and the HBM450SA1. Match the model on your rating label before ordering.

Haier fridge iced up or not cooling

Frost-free fridges defrost the evaporator coil every so often with a heater. This sensor sits near the coil and reports its temperature to the control board, which uses it to start and end each defrost. When the sensor fails, defrost may never run, so ice builds up on the coil and blocks the airflow. The fridge section then warms while the freezer still feels cold. A faulty sensor can also bring up an error code. Testing its resistance against the service figures confirms the fault.

Part details

  • Genuine Haier defrost sensor H0060402077
  • Temperature sensor on a cable lead
  • Listed for Haier HRF420, HRF450, HRF502, HRF520 and HBM450 models

Replacing the defrost sensor

Switch the fridge off at the wall and remove food from the freezer. Take off the rear freezer panel to expose the coil, and let any ice melt completely before working. Note where the old sensor is clipped and how its lead is routed, then fit the new one in the same position and connect it at the plug or join. Refit the panel and allow several hours to cool down.

Questions about this part

How do I know the sensor has failed and not the heater?

Both can leave the coil frozen. Test the sensor's resistance and the heater's continuity with a multimeter and compare them with the service figures for your model. If the heater checks out and the sensor reads wrong or open, replace the sensor.
