Inside the valve is an electric coil and a rubber diaphragm. Swapping the cold inlet valve

Turn both taps off and unplug the washer. Unscrew the cold hose from the valve and check the filter screen and hose washer while you're there. Take off the panel that gives access to the valve, photograph the wiring and outlet hose, then move them across to the new valve one at a time. Refit the panels before turning the taps back on and running a short fill to check for leaks.
