As water circulates through the wash, this filter strains out lint, hair and loose fibres so they aren't redeposited on the load. A filter with a torn mesh, a broken frame or a missing clip lets that debris pass straight back into the water. The result is fluff stuck to dark clothes, grey specks on towels and lint collecting in the bowl. A blocked filter works poorly too, so empty and rinse it often. Removing and refitting the lint filter
Turn the washer off before reaching into the bowl. Note how the old filter sits and how it releases, then remove it and clean around the mounting area. Push the new filter into place until it's firmly held, and give it a light tug to make sure it won't come loose during the wash. Rinse it out every few loads to keep it working.
