Washer not filling, or filling when it shouldn't?

Inside the valve, solenoid coils lift small diaphragms to open each water path when the control board sends power. When a coil burns out, the machine fills slowly, fills from one side only or not at all, and usually stops with a fill error. A diaphragm that sticks or splits can let water keep creeping into the drum even with the washer off, which is a clear sign the valve is faulty. A blocked filter screen at the hose inlet can also slow filling, so check it before replacing the valve.

Fitting the inlet valve

Turn off both taps, unplug the washer and disconnect the fill hoses at the back. Remove the top panel to reach the valve, photograph the internal hoses and wiring, then transfer them to the new valve in the same positions. Reconnect the fill hoses with their washers in place, turn the taps on slowly and watch for leaks.
