When the whole washer door needs replacing
The door does more than close the opening. It presses against the rubber bellows to keep water inside during the wash, and its hook engages the door lock so the machine knows it's safe to start. A cracked inner glass, broken hinge mount or damaged hook can stop the lock engaging, leaving the washer refusing to start or showing a door fault. Cracked glass is also a safety risk and should never be left in service, even if the machine still seems to run.

Changing the door
Unplug the washer first. Support the door while you undo the hinge fixings, as it's heavier than it looks.
