GLO13-02 Generic Upper Oven Element, Aftermarket Top Heating Element for Electric Ovens

GLO13-02 is a generic upper element for an electric oven, made as an aftermarket replacement rather than by the oven maker. Oven not heating from the top?

In many ovens the upper element works with the lower one for conventional baking, and in some it also acts as the grill. When it fails you may notice pale tops on cakes and pastry, food that only cooks from underneath, longer cooking times or a grill that won't glow. Look for a blistered or split sheath, a burnt spot or a visible break. A failed element can also trip the safety switch as soon as the oven is turned on. A multimeter test confirms whether it's open circuit.

Fitting the upper element

Turn the oven off at the switchboard and let it cool fully. Ovens are hard-wired, so element replacement should be done by a licensed electrician. Upper elements are usually reached by removing the rear or top panel, or by lowering an element that hangs inside the cavity. Photograph the terminals and wiring before disconnecting, then make sure the new element's connections are tight before testing.
