When the fan forced setting on a Smeg or Blanco oven stops heating, GL021-02 is an OEM 2600W three ring element that replaces Smeg 806890386 and Blanco 040148009907R and 040125009971R. It is built to the original equipment specification and mounts around the fan at the back of the oven. Models on file include the SA360X1 and SA420X, the SA504X with the SCA506X, the SA920MFW2, both the BOSE75X and BOSE90X, and the FD9085WX.
Fan forced oven not heating? Check the ring element
A fan forced oven heats with a ring shaped element fixed around the fan on the back wall. The fan pushes air across the hot coils and around the cavity, giving even heat on every shelf. When the element fails, the fan still spins but the oven stays cold or warms very slowly on fan settings, while the grill and other elements may still work. Blistering, a visible break in the coils or a safety switch that trips the moment fan bake is selected all point to a failed element.

Fitting the fan element
Have a licensed electrician do this job, with the oven isolated at the switchboard. Remove the fan cover inside the oven, then the screws holding the element to the back wall. The terminals sit behind the rear panel, so photograph the wiring before disconnecting anything. Line the rings up so they clear the fan blade, refit the cover and run the oven on fan forced to confirm it heats.
