Replacing a cracked or loose ILVE cooker knob
The knob is how you turn, and on many cookers push, the gas valve to light and adjust a burner. Over time the plastic insert that grips the valve spindle can wear round or split, so the knob slips, spins without turning the valve or pulls off in your hand. Heat and cleaning sprays can also crack the body or fade the markings. A knob that no longer grips is more than cosmetic, because it makes it hard to set the flame accurately or turn the gas fully off.

Fitting the new knob
Make sure every burner is off and the cooktop has cooled. Pull the old knob straight off the spindle without twisting it, which can strain the valve. Line up the flat on the spindle with the shape inside the new knob and push it on firmly. Check it turns smoothly through each setting and returns to off. If the spindle itself is loose or damaged, have a licensed gas fitter look at the valve.
