LG front loader door won't lock or open? Signs of a bad door lock
Before a front loader will fill, the control board has to see the door lock confirm it's closed and locked. If the lock switch fails, the machine may refuse to start, click repeatedly while it tries to lock, show a door error code such as dE, or stop partway through a cycle. The opposite also happens, with the door staying locked long after the wash has finished. A broken door hook or a misaligned door can mimic the same problems, so check those first.

Fitting the LG door lock
Unplug the machine and make sure there's no water left in the drum. Release the outer clamp on the door seal and fold the seal back to reach the lock, then remove the screws holding it to the front panel. Unplug the 4 pin connector, move it to the new lock and refit everything. Run a short program to confirm the door locks and releases properly.
