Product details

EAU64824805 is the genuine LG DC fan motor for the freezer evaporator in a number of LG fridges. It is rated at 2.7W and runs at 1970rpm. The models on file are the GF-B530BL and GF-B590BLE, the GF-LN500PL, the GF-V570MBLC and GF-V570PNL, the GF-V910MBL and GF-V910MBLC, and the SG-W65TSL. Match EAU64824805 on the motor label to be sure.

LG fridge warm but freezer cold? Check the evaporator fan

In a frost-free LG fridge the evaporator fan pulls air across the cooling coil behind the freezer panel and pushes it through ducts into both compartments. When the motor slows or stops, the freezer may still be cold near the coil but the fridge side warms up, food spoils faster and the compressor runs longer. A noisy fan gives itself away with buzzing, ticking or grinding, often from ice touching the blade. Open the freezer door and press the door switch. If you hear no fan, the motor is a likely cause.

Replacing the evaporator fan motor

Switch the fridge off at the wall and move food to an esky or another fridge. Remove the freezer shelves and the rear panel to reach the fan. If there is ice around the fan, let it thaw fully rather than chipping at it. Note how the blade and mounts fit, move them to the new motor if needed, reconnect the plug and check the blade spins freely before refitting the panel.

Questions about this part

Is this the fan for the fridge or the freezer?

This motor is listed for the freezer evaporator fan position. Some LG fridges also have a separate fan for the condenser at the back. Check the label on your old motor for EAU64824805 before you order.
