LG front loader not draining? The drain pump is a prime suspect

At the end of each wash and rinse, the drain pump pushes water out of the tub and into the drain hose. When its impeller jams, the motor winding fails or a blocked filter starves it, water stays in the drum. You may find the washer stopping mid cycle with water sitting inside, a spin that never starts, clothes left soaking wet, a drain error on the display, or a loud hum or grinding from the bottom front. Always clear the pump filter first, as lint, coins and hair clips cause plenty of these faults.

Changing the drain pump

Unplug the washer and turn off both taps. Have towels and a shallow tray ready, then let out the remaining water through the filter or emergency drain hose before going near the pump. Photograph the wiring and hose clamps, swap the pump across, and check every clamp is seated properly. Run a rinse and spin while watching underneath for leaks.
