Product details

EAU30125201 is a genuine LG fan motor for the ice maker in an LG fridge. On LG fridges that make ice away from the freezer, such as in the door or the fresh food section, a small fan pushes freezer air through ducts to the ice maker so the water can freeze. No model list is on file, so match the part number on your old motor or the parts list for your fridge.

LG fridge not making ice? Check the ice maker fan

The ice maker needs a steady flow of sub-zero air to freeze each batch. When its fan motor stops, the ice compartment warms up, and you'll typically see slow or no ice production, cubes that clump or melt together, frost or water around the ice bin, or a fan that squeals or grinds before it quits. Ice in the compartment can also jam the blade. Before replacing the motor, check the blade spins freely and the duct isn't blocked with frost, since a freeze-up can stop a good motor.

Fitting the ice maker fan motor

Unplug the fridge or switch it off at the wall first. Empty the ice bin and let any frost around the fan melt. Remove the cover panel, unplug the motor's connector and note how the motor sits and which way the blade faces. Fit the new motor the same way, reconnect it, and give the ice maker a day to produce a full batch.
