Product details

Part EA6871001000000 is a genuine ILVE thermostat for multifunction ovens. The thermostat reads the cavity temperature and switches the elements on and off to hold the setting you've chosen on the dial. It's a long number, so take care to match all fifteen characters. Without a model list on file, check your ILVE's parts list or the number on the old thermostat first.

ILVE oven not holding temperature

In a multifunction oven, the thermostat decides when the elements get power. A sensor in the cavity feeds back the temperature, and contacts in the thermostat open once the set point is reached. As thermostats age, the contacts pit or the sensing system drifts out of calibration. The oven may refuse to heat at all, overshoot and burn food, run well below the dial setting, or cycle the elements erratically. An oven thermometer is a quick way to confirm the reading is off before replacing anything.

Fitting the thermostat

Isolate the oven at the switchboard and allow it to cool. Thermostat replacement means working on mains wiring behind the control panel, and ILVE ovens are often hard-wired, so this job belongs with a licensed electrician. Photograph every terminal before disconnecting, route the sensor exactly as the old one ran and secure it in its clips inside the cavity.

Questions about this part

How can I tell if the thermostat is faulty?

Put an oven thermometer in the centre of the cavity and set the dial to a known temperature. If the reading is well off after preheating, or the elements never switch off, the thermostat is the likely fault. Check the elements and wiring as well.
