Indoor unit running but no air coming out?
When the indoor fan motor fails, the system may start and the outdoor unit may run, yet little or no air comes from the indoor head. Many units then stop and flash a fan motor error because the control board can't detect the fan speed. Other signs are a fan that turns slowly or unevenly, a hum or grinding from one end of the indoor unit, or a burning smell. Before replacing the motor, turn the fan by hand with the power isolated to check it isn't being held by a seized bearing or debris, and check the plug at the control board.

Replacing the indoor fan motor
Isolate the air conditioner at the switchboard and its isolator before opening the indoor unit. Access usually means removing the front panel, drain tray and the motor cover at one end. Mark the position of the fan on the motor shaft so the barrel stays centred, and photograph the wiring route. Split systems are hard-wired, so leave the motor swap to a licensed electrician or aircon technician.
