DV4A is a genuine Deflecto dryer diverter assembly, made to fit into the exhaust ducting of a vented clothes dryer. A diverter lets you change the direction of the airflow coming from the dryer, so you have a say in where the warm, moist exhaust ends up. It isn't tied to one dryer brand, so check the outlet size on your dryer and ducting against the diverter before ordering.
What a dryer diverter does
Vented dryers push hot, damp, lint-laden air out through a duct. A diverter sits in that duct run and gives you a way to change where the air goes, so the exhaust can be routed to suit your laundry setup rather than being locked into a single path. Keep in mind that exhaust air carries moisture and fine lint. It should never be vented into a wall cavity or roof space, and any indoor outlet needs good ventilation to avoid condensation and mould. Clean lint out of the diverter regularly.

Fitting the diverter
Unplug the dryer before you touch the ducting. Check that the diverter matches the diameter of your dryer outlet and duct, then fit it into the duct run and secure each joint with a clamp or tape made for ducting. Keep the run as short and straight as practical, and make sure the dryer's lint filter is clean before testing.
