Choosing the right small bayonet globe

An SBC base has two small pins on the side that lock into slots in the holder when you push in and twist. A higher wattage globe runs hotter inside a small cover and can discolour or melt plastic parts, while a lower one may look dim. Changing the globe

Turn the appliance or fitting off at the wall and let the old globe cool before touching it. Push it in gently, twist anticlockwise and pull it out. Line the pins of the new globe up with the slots, push in and twist clockwise until it locks. Refit any cover before switching the power back on.
